The well-known payment company Block (formerly known as Square) has always offered solutions for sellers who use the iPad as a sales terminal. However, this time, Block is reportedly working on a new iPad display stand that has a built-in NFC reader for payments.
The image found in the internal files of the official Square app (from Bloomberg) shows a new, unpublished third-generation product, Square Stand, that integrates with the iPad and connects to a credit card reader. But unlike its predecessors, the new stand is a significant upgrade for this accessory, as it combines both a physical credit card reader and an NFC reader in one device.
Although the technical details of the new stand are unknown, it will certainly make it easier for sellers to use the iPad as a sales terminal. Instead of connecting an external card reader, sellers will have everything they need to sell their products at the new booth. Of course, with the Square application, everything should work perfectly.
The unit does not say when the new iPad stand will be available on the market, but it will probably be soon, as photos of the accessories have recently been added to the company’s app. The current Square Stand, which costs $ 169, is one of the company’s most popular products.
Apple has introduced a new feature Tap to Pay, which turns the iPhone into contactless payment terminals. And, as I wrote earlier, Apple could turn the iPad into the ultimate payment terminal if NFC support was enabled. The large iPad display is ideal not only as a payment terminal, but also as a complete system for retailers to register, manage and sell their products.
