Almost the entire online world is on Facebook, and if you want privacy, you can lock your profile. With just a few clicks, it’s the fastest way to protect your photos and posts.
We’ll show you what happens when you lock your Facebook profile and how to do it from your iPhone, the Facebook app for Android, or your computer.
Consequences of blocking a Facebook profile
After you lock your Facebook (FB) profile, here are the changes that will happen to your account:
No one but your Facebook friends will be able to click on your FB profile picture or cover to view it in full size.
Apart from your Facebook friends, no one will be able to see your photos and posts on your FB profile.
Exception: Shared albums and Facebook posts you’ve shared on public pages, groups, and FB Marketplace will remain public.
All your old posts that were set to public (meaning everyone on or off Facebook) will now be changed to friends only. Apart from your FB friends, no one can even see your old Facebook posts.
Even new posts and photos you post on Facebook will only be seen by your friends, not friends of friends or the public.
You will not be able to create public records.
Only your Facebook friends can see your stories.
People who are not your friends will only see five profile details (the information on the page).
From now on, if someone tags you in a FB post, that post will appear on your Facebook profile only after you review and approve it.
In other words, locking your Facebook account changes a number of privacy settings and keeps your posts, photos, and account details private.
This change should not affect your Facebook friends, who can still see your profile and cover, other uploaded or tagged photos, posts and details as before. If you don’t want your friend to see them, you can remove them from your friends or block that person.
Note. Even after you lock your profile, it won’t change the way people find you or contact you. If someone searches for you by your name, username, email address, etc., your profile will continue to appear in search results. And they can contact you according to your communication preferences.
How to block a Facebook profile from within the app
